Stefania Salmaso (ISS) - Vaccination is also a matter of communication
Recent data says that vaccination refusal is skyscraping in Italy, with an increase up to 25% in some areas. Stefania Salmaso, head of the Italian National Center for epidemiology, Surveillance and Health Promotion, admits that most public health staff, doctors included, are not adequately educated to explain the balance between risks and benefits of vaccination and therefore get informed consent from people. “Communication is relevant and something we all should learn” she says.
