TELL ME vision statement
We believe that globalisation and information-communication technology are both as much a challenge as an opportunity for public health. The global interconnection and new ICT are powerful vectors for ultra-rapid, geographically dispersed contagion on a massive scale, spreading misinformation, panic, distrust, and, not least, for enabling intentionally provoked infection outbreaks. Yet, they also allow moving towards a more open global society in which citizens have a right to receive and disseminate information relevant to the protection and promotion of their health.
We aim to maximize opportunities and minimize risks, by creating conditions for exploiting the huge potential that the information society can offer in terms of participatory communication during epidemics and in epidemic preparedness.
We aim at promoting transparent communication by delivering evidence-based messages and by involving both citizens and health professionals in decision-making processes.
